MCT Wellness is a Medium Chain Triglycerides wellness specially developed dietary supplement to enhance our energy levels, and cognitive functions and support gut health. MCT Wellness ingredients contain saturated fatty acids like Caprylic acid (C8) and Capric acid (C10) that our body can easily absorb and they are claimed to act as a source of energy both for our body and brain.

Significance of the main ingredients of MCT Wellness supplement

Caprylic acid (C8) – It is also known as octanoic acid or C8 Acid. It is a saturated fatty acid. It is a colorless oily liquid that is minimally soluble in water with a slightly unpleasant as decomposed oils or fats like smell and taste. Its compounds are found naturally in the milk of various mammals and as a minor constituent of coconut oil and palm kernel oil.

Caprylic acid is taken as a dietary supplement. In our body, it is found as octanoate or unprotonated caprylic acid. Some studies have shown that medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) can help in the process of excess calorie burning and consequently weight loss. However, the evidence has concluded that the results are unconvincing.

Capric acid (C10) –   It is also known as decanoic acid or decylic acid. It is a saturated fatty acidSalts and esters of decanoic acid are called caprates or decanoates. The name capric acid originated from the Latin word capra (goat) because of the sweaty, unpleasant smell of the compound which is similar to that of goats. It is found naturally in the milk of various mammals and as a minor constituent of coconut oil and palm kernel oil.

Capric acid may be responsible for the mitochondrial proliferation associated with the ketogenic diet, which helps fuel brain functions and lowers the frequency of epileptic seizures in children and adults.

How to enhance cognitive functions naturally?

Eating healthy food and practicing certain breathing exercises (pranayama) can help improve cognitive function. Deep and controlled breathing during pranayama practices can improve oxygen intake, which is essential for brain function. Enhanced oxygen levels in our body can help improve cognitive performance. Certain pranayama like Anulom Vilom Pranayama (Alternate Nostril Breathing), Nadishodhan Pranayama (Breathing for Cleaning of Energy Channels, also called Pulse Cleaning), and Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breathing Technique) help improve brain health and functions.

What is Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breathing Technique) and what are its benefits?

Bhramari Pranayama is a breathing technique. Bhramari is derived from bhramara means black bee. While performing this pranayama, a humming sound is produced at exhalation; it resembles the buzzing sound of a bee. Regularly practicing this pranayama reduces anxiety and stress and therefore; it can help eliminate negative emotions like anger, frustration, agitation, and fear. How to improve our gut health naturally?

The gut breaks down the foods we eat and absorbs nutrients that support our body’s functions. It has been shown that our gut microbiome can affect every organ of our body. It has been revealed that there are links between our gut health and gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, endocrine disorders like type 2 diabetes, immune system, mental health, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and so on.

We can improve our gut health through lifestyle and dietary changes. Dietary fiber in foods can improve our gut health as it can help keep us regular and feed the healthy bacteria in our gut. Whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and nuts, may prevent the growth of some bacteria linked to diseases and inflammation. Eat fiber-rich foods and foods rich in polyphenols, limit or preferably avoid eating processed food, drink sufficient water, and eat a diverse range of foods rich in vitamins and minerals. Eat fresh yogurt for good bacteria that help digest food effectively and hence improve gut health.

We can improve our gut health by practicing yoga asanas

While many asanas can be performed as per our physical suitability to improve gut health three of them such as Bow pose, Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana), and Boat pose can be predominantly done.

Bow Pose: MCT Wellness

  • Lie down on the stomach, facing downwards, and bring the arms close to the body, stretch the legs, and take deep breaths to relax the spine.
  • While exhaling, bend the knees and point the toes by bringing the legs and feet as close and as easily as possible to the lower back.
  • Slowly stretch the arms backward and grab the right foot toe with the right hand and the left foot toe with the left hand.
  • While exhaling, pull the legs upwards by raising the knees above the floor and, at the same time lift the chest from the floor. The arms and hands appear like bowstrings. Beginners may use a rolled blanket or pillow, place it under the knees, and extend the legs upward. It may provide extra support.
  • Slowly uplift the head and tug it as far back as possible. Allow the abdomen to bear the weight of the body. Do not rest either the pelvic bones or the ribs on the floor.
  • Do not join the knees after lifting the legs as it will restrict the legs from being raised high enough. After a full stretch upwards, bend the thighs, knees, and ankles. With slow and deep breathing maintain the bow pose for a few minutes and slowly return to the initial position.
  • One should practice this pose for at least up to 2 repetitions.

Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana):MCT Wellness

Before starting this yoga asana it is quite essential to warm up the body. This asana can be done as mentioned below;

  • Sit cross-legged on the mat, place the right hand on the left knee and completely exhale while twisting the torso to the left side. Importantly one should do this asana as slowly and as easily as possible as doing it in a hurry or overstretching the body may harm the lower back or back muscles.
  • Twist from the base of the spine to the shoulders but; make sure that the body is not lifted off the mat. Also, while stretching, be careful not to hurt the lower back.
  • Left hand should be placed on the mat, just behind the hips, breathe normally and stay in this position initially for at least 5 to 10 seconds, and with regular practice gradually extend it to 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Untwist the body with slow and deep inhalation and repeat the exercise for the other side and that will complete one repetition. One should practice this asana for at least 2 repetitions.

Boat pose :MCT Wellness

  • Lie down on the back and keep the legs straight and hands close to the body with palms facing downwards.
  • Inhale and engage back muscles, lean back slightly, and lift the legs from the lower back until they create a 45-degree angle with the floor and the body is balanced on the tailbone.
  • Keeping the back straight, lift the toes towards the forehead to straighten the legs. If this is too difficult, keep the shins parallel to the floor.
  • Stretch the arms to be parallel to the floor, and keep the chest open.
  • Hold the pose for 10 to 20 seconds with normal breathing and with regular practice extend the pose holding time to one minute.
  • With regular practice, one should complete at least 2 repetitions with a hold time of one minute per repetition.
