Relaxium sleep is the medicine that helps fall asleep easily. Sound sleep is considered to be one of the most essential needs of the lives of all living beings.   • Valerest – 

Benefits: Valerian root extract is used as a sedative. It is mostly used to treat conditions like sleep disorders, especially insomnia. It may also be used to reduce stress and anxiety.

Side effects: The common side effects caused by valerest are dizziness, restlessness, and tension or headaches.

  • Ashwagandha extract – 

Benefits: It improves immunity, reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep quality, reduces blood sugar levels, helps in hypertension, and improves testosterone and energy levels.

Side effects:  Most people will not have side effects but; some may experience mild effects like nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, itchy rashes, and lack of appetite. Although rare, taking ashwagandha supplements may cause liver issues that are manifested as itchy skin or jaundice. Importantly, those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, undergoing any surgery, under medication for hypertension, or have thyroid problems, etc. are not advised to consume this medicine.

  • Magnesium citrate, Magnesium glycinate, Magnesium oxide – 

Benefits: It is helpful in sleep disorders, relaxation of muscles promoting the release of mental and physical tension, relieving anxiety, promoting bone health, and maintaining regular heart rhythm, etc.

Side effects: Excess or regular intake of this ingredient may cause hypotension, irregular heartbeats, muscle weakness, and in severe cases it may also cause cardiac arrest.

  • L-Tryptophan – 

Benefits: L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid that helps our body make proteins and certain brain-signaling chemicals. Our body changes L-tryptophan into a brain chemical called serotonin. Serotonin helps control our mood and sleep.

Side effects: L-tryptophan can cause some side effects like drowsiness, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and blurry vision.

  • Melatonin – 

Benefits: It is often used as a sleep aid to combat issues like insomnia. Moreover, it is also used in managing immune function, blood pressure, and cortisol levels.

Side effects: It can cause some side effects including headache, sleepiness, dizziness, feeling irritable or restless, feeling sick (nausea), Stomach ache, etc.

  • Chamomile extract – 

Benefite: Chamomile has been used as a traditional medicinal herb for thousands of years to alleviate anxiety and help sleep better.

Side effects: It causes nausea, dizziness, and allergic reactions. Rare cases of anaphylaxis (a life-threatening allergic reaction) have occurred in people who consumed or came into contact with chamomile products. Anaphylaxis is often fatal because of its rapid progression to collapse the respiratory system.

  • Passionflower extract – 

Benefits: It is been traditionally used to help with sleep. It is generally used to calm anxiety and anxiety before surgery. Some people also take passion flower extract to treat insomnia, stress, and Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Side effects: It may cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, and confusion.

  • Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) – 

Benefits: It may help with anxiety, stress, depression, sleep problems, and high blood pressure. However, more research is required to determine its effectiveness.

Side effects: These supplements are generally considered safe but; they may interact with certain medications that are used to treat blood pressure and seizures.

Breathing techniques that are significant to fall asleep effortlessly – 

To avoid the rigors of the aforementioned side effects of the ingredients of Relaxium Sleep medicine on our health; we have suggested below some effective breathing techniques to fall asleep naturally. Importantly, these breathing techniques must be practiced on an empty stomach. Therefore, for dinner one should take light food in the evening at least 3 hours before the scheduled time to practice these breathing techniques so that they can be done with perfection to attain the maximum benefits.

  • 4-7-8 Breathing –

  • To perform this breathing technique sit in a comfortable position with the back straight.
  • Place the tip of the tongue on the tissue just behind the upper front teeth. Keep the tongue there throughout the exercise.
  • Breathe out through the mouth.
  • Close the mouth and breathe in through the nose for up to 4 seconds.
  • Hold your breath counting up to 7 seconds.
  • Breathe out through the mouth counting up to 8 seconds.

Repeat these steps three more times. Practice this exercise at least twice a day. The ratio of 4:7:8 is important. One should maintain this ratio throughout the exercise and if necessary, one can count a little faster if the breath can’t be held for the full span.

  • Diaphragmatic Breathing –

The diaphragm is at the base of the lungs. It is a muscle that plays a key role in breathing. Diaphragm breathing is also known as belly breathing or abdominal breathing. 

  • Lie on the back on a flat surface, such as the bed, with the knees bent.
  • Put one hand on the upper chest and the other on the stomach just below the rib cage.
  • Breathe in through the nose. Concentrate on the breathing and draw the breath down to the stomach. The hand on the stomach will rise with the breath. The chest should remain still.
  • Exhale slowly, the stomach should fall back to its original position, but the hand on the upper chest should remain still.
  • Relaxed breathing –

This method uses breath control and breath-holding exercises. Trained instructors can help get the best out of this technique.

  • Sit comfortably with the back straight and legs uncrossed. Look slightly upward or close your eyes.
  • Place the hands on the upper and lower chest and breathe quietly through the nose.
  • Focus on the areas of the body that move with breath and concentrate on the lower chest.
  • After a few minutes, let the top hand rest on the lap.
  • Slowly relax the muscles in the face, jaw, neck, shoulders, abdomen, hips, and legs.
  • Alternate Nostril Breathing –

Alternate nostril breathing is a yoga technique.

  • Sit in a comfortable position on the floor or chair with the back straight.
  • Put the left hand in the lap with the palm facing downwards and resting on the thigh.
  • Raise the right hand in front of the face.
  • Let the index and middle fingers rest between the eyebrows and actively use the thumb and ring finger to perform this breathing exercise
  • Close the eyes and take a deep breath in and out through the nose.
  • Use the right thumb to close the right nostril.
  • Breathe slowly through the left nostril.
  • Close the left nostril with the ring finger. Both nostrils should be held closed, and hold the breath for 4 to 5 seconds.
  • Open the right nostril and breathe out slowly through the right nostril. Pause at the end of the exhale for 4 to 5 seconds.
  • Now inhale slowly through the right nostril and hold both nostrils closed.
  • Open the left nostril and breathe out slowly. Pause briefly at the end of the exhale for 4 to 5 seconds.
  • Repeat this breathing technique 5 to 10 times.
